Probate and Intestacy

Probate is simply the process of sorting things out, according to the Will that someone has left.  What makes the process difficult is carrying this out whilst the family are in emotional turmoil at the loss of their loved one.  Executors can apply for Probate themselves, but many choose to employ a solicitor to do this for them. The visiting service means that things can gently be talked through at home and then Jonathan can complete all the documentation at the office before returning to explain them and have them signed by you. Once the Grant of Probate is obtained all the intricacies of administering the estate can follow. Jonathan has almost thirty years experience in Probate and can make sure that the process is carried out as smoothly as possible.

Intestacy is the same process, but when no Will has been left. Most people choose to employ a solicitor in this situation, which can be somewhat complicated and the services of this expert are almost always required.  The solicitor can also act as a family mediator, especially when emotions are running high, keeping the situation calm and ordered.

Very often there is a home involved in the estate and once the decision has been made to sell it, the conveyance flows smoothly as part of the probate process.

Home visiting means that the need to ‘go to see the solicitor’ is not there anymore.  Most people feel more comfortable in their own home at this difficult time to go through things with Jonathan at their own pace, taking as much time as needed.
